Minor Novice Gold Medal Champions - Manitoba Warriors - May 28 - 30 2010
In a hard faught battle against the Toronto Bulldogs in the Round Robin game, the Manitoba Warriors beat Toronto 6 - 5 only to face them once again in the Gold Medal game. The Warriors rolled up in their bus to the entrance of the arena on the morning of the finals, and the chanting echoed throughout the lobby. "Let's Go Warriors Let's Go" could be heard from every player as they marched one by one into East Calgary Twin Arenas to begin the semi-final game against the Foothills Mustangs. An astounding victory in the semi-final set the ball rolling for what was to be the greatest Novice game I have ever witnessed. After 3 periods, and way too many clock malfunctions, the Toronto Bulldogs scored on a penalty shot with 1 minute and 19 seconds remaining on the clock, to tie the game. During the short lived over time period, Manitoba Goalie Donte G. made a heart stopping save to keep Manitoba alive. Shortly after, #8 Ty T scored the game winning goal, for a final score of 5-4. Congratulations!!!

Troy Ritcy
A native of Cole Harbour Nova Scotia, Coach Ritz joins the 2000 AAA Top Guns for his first season at the helm, from the Simons Valley Association. After a modest Junior career in Eastern Canada and a tour of Europe style hockey, Troy began coaching as an assistant with the Bantam AA program in Cole Harbour NS. His 18 years behind the bench has spanned Community Tim Bits hockey in Calgary to Midget AAA in St. John, Newfoundland, high school in Nova Scotia and many levels in between. An advocate of disciplined tough hockey, Coach Ritz has emphasized conditioning, skill development and "having fun" since joining Top Guns in October 2009. Of his accomplishments in hockey, the four years Troy spent working with Corporate relations on the Halifax Mooseheads of the QMJHL is a personal highlight, as well as the numerous kids that have gone on to reputable hockey careers. Coach Ritz loves the game, and loves to see the successes that this year's 2000 Top Guns will accomplish.
